V8 Supercar Australia and Variety, The Children’s Charity, are proud to join forces to help Australian children in need in 2006.
The V8 Supercars’ message of strength, power and speed touches fans young and old and has created an unprecedented success story. Utilising this message V8 Supercars is stepping up to help special children around the country.
V8 Supercars Australia and Variety are committed to improving the lives of Australian children in need and have worked together to deliver a total of $359,600 to children across the country since 2002.
“With more than 1.7 million people attending V8 Supercar Championship Series events last year we are sure to raise a significant amount of money to help the children of Australia,” V8 Supercars Australia Chairman Tony Cochrane said.
“This is the first time we have nominated a favoured charity to which we align with closely throughout the year. We felt that as Variety is an all-encompassing charity that supports a range of causes it was a perfect fit for V8 Supercars.
“Our Championship, the teams, drivers, sponsors and all those involved raise millions of dollars every single year for those less fortunate than us. We are very proud to be formally associated with Variety to support this great work.”
Variety will conduct a series of fundraising initiatives in conjunction with V8 Supercars Australia at key rounds in the 2006 calendar, with a target of $100,000 raised for special children around the country this year.
Variety delivered $11 million in aid to Australia’s special needs children in 2005 and with the help of V8 Supercars Australia will continue to grow their support of Australian children.
“We are very excited to be expanding our relationship with V8 Supercars,” said Kym Burke, National Chairman of Variety. “V8 Supercars have been a valued supporter of Variety and we are extremely grateful to have their continued support to help children in need.”
